Lammas is the sabbat that marks the beginning of the end of summer in the northern hemisphere. At this time we welcome the first harvest. Specifically, the first crop of wheat ready to be picked in late summer.
Hence, Lammas is all about celebrating the fruits of our labour, and honouring the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The grain dies so we can live, and the seeds of this harvest are the seeds of next year's rebirth.
This is a time to reap what we've sown since Summer Solstice, and find gratitude + perspective. In under 8 weeks, we welcome Fall Equinox, and darker, colder days.
At the first harvest, we separate wheat from chaff, so we can move into the last chapter of summer / the last burst of energy, focused on what matters.
